"Withdrawal" or "the pull out method" is when a man removes his penis from the vagina before ejaculation — when semen comes out of the penis. This process requires self control and is a form of free birth control. When done correctly, it will help prevent pregnancy.

To learn more about withdrawal (the pull out method), contact your local Planned Parenthood health center at http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-center/?utm_source=YouTube&utm_me... or our website at http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-topics/birth-control/withdrawal-pull-...)

"THE PULL OUT METHOD (WITHDRAWAL)" - PLANNED PARENTHOOD
VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:

Are you a guy who really knows his body and has a lot of self control?. Are you looking for birth control that is safe, always available, and free? Are you or your partner already using birth control and do you want to improve its effectiveness? Well, you might be interested in learning more about withdrawal or what some people call pulling out. Withdrawal is basically when a man pulls his penis out of his partner's body before ejaculating -- , you know, coming. If sperm don't make it to the vagina, there won't be a pregnancy. As birth control, there is nothing to buy or remember to take when you use withdrawal. It's a method you can always use. There are no side effects and it can make other forms of birth control more effective. However, using the withdrawal method effectively can require a whole lot of self control and trust.

You really have to know when you're about to ejaculate and you have to be able to pull out before you do. This can be easier said than done. Think about it: you are at the height of things feeling good and it's up to you to stop what you're doing and ejaculate outside your partner's body. That's why a lot of guys pull out before they even get that close. It's also why a lot of guys don't pull out in time. Like all birth control methods, withdrawal is more effective when you do it correctly. For every one hundred (100) women whose partners use withdrawal, four (4) will become pregnancy each year if their partners always do it right. That goes up to about twenty-seven (27) out of one hundred (100) women if their partners don't always do it right. Also, withdrawal does not protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted infections. So use condoms if you're concerned about preventing STDs. If you're interested in learning more about this method, check out the info on http://www.plannedparenthood.org/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=website&a...).

  • It's not safe at all, but it's better than no contraception at all. That's probably why the video's up here.

  • Pre-ejaculate can contain seamen and you can get pregnant from that. Is that seriously not worth mentioning?

  • They won't prescribe you the pill if you're a guy. Medicine is prescribed to the user. She'd have to come in. Doctors MUST keep any information you give them confidential. They can't tell your parents.
