It's quite subtle. Nearly imperceptible. Not where we might think of looking first: how we see ourselves—our identity—shapes our future as a species. So let's tell a story about ourselves—let's build a cultural identity that moves us to dream bigger, learn faster.... go places, evolve into something even better.

  • @andrij13 You should start with Bill Bryson's "A short history of nearly everything" -- it's a real page turner! -- and then try to work your way through some more technical books on astrophysics (and perhaps cosmology). There's just so much about the universe that we know today, that the many authors of the books of the Bible couldn't even dream of (yes, I've read them all). Btw, do you know about hydrogen bombs? That's fusion on a small scale.

  • @HonestGabeLincoln

because you don't agree with them, their views aren't welcome?? well then. i agree. cuz this video is retarded

  • ya this guy's is making a pretty broad generalization assuming all animal life came from one organism.

  • great video. although " creating an identity" for ourselves is nearly imposible considering the fact that we can't "create". But I definetely agree with the notion of identity, what is our identity and where can we obtain the cinder blocks to our foundation?

  • @theDC4L god damn you're an asshole. who are you to discount the belief of christianity if it works for someone? i'm agnostic but my dad is a christian, a real one. and i accept it like he accepts me being agnostic. if anything you're the sheep. you're sheltered as hell for getting so angry at somebody who's first language isn't english. and religion helped humanity at first, it scared us to not do bad shit. but now we're more aware and those who realize that shouldn't be mad at peoples beliefs

  • @coldblackvoid with every new invention we get bored. for instance the idea that we can actually fly in an airplane is pretty damn amazing. before the idea that we could fly sounded impossible, but now nobody thinks flight is a big deal.with every new invention we have to get bored so we can start thinking about crazier, more amazing things to invent. but what will happen once we reach a point when we become gods? will it not get boring?

  • this is all really interesting. but won't the universe eventually end? and even if we achieve so called "immortality" it won't really be immortality because we will die with the universe. even if we reach a point where will control everything in the universe including its fate, what then? do we just keep going forever? won't it get boring?
