What a horrible movie but it did have some good flying scenes. They obviously went to great expense to launch B-25's off of an aircraft carrier for example.

  • The Doolittle raid is what real men are made of. My hats off to those brave Americans who bombed our enemies in their own back yard. Freedom is not free ladies and gents.

  • James Dolittle is a Bad Ass

He achieved everything in aviation, one of the greatest aviators off all time. He was the first person that performed an Outside Loop; invented Instrument Flying becoming the first pilot to take off, fly and land an airplane using instruments alone, without a view outside the cockpit. Won the Bendix Trophy, Schneider Cup, Thompson Trophy, Mackay Trophy...

  • greatest part of great movie... nothing is impossible..

/have done this on PC game.. atleast small idea how hard it is actually/

  • @socata69 he means in combat, that was the only time in COMBAT that they did it is what he means

  • They had an opportunity to make a really good historically accurate movie similar to Tora, Tora, Tora, Midway, Patton, The Longest Day but, instead, they went Hollywood. Those dog fight scenes flying between buildings on Hawaii were just awful.

  • First line of this is wrong." Never done before or since" Doolittle did it right?? And it was reenacted in '95 off the deck of the USS Carl Vinson in Hawaii. There's a few videos of it here on YouTube.

  • @AlcoholicSemenStain

    RIGHT ON AMERICAN :-)

BTW, THAT WAS MY SHIP they did the filming, Yes, "America's Flagship USS Constellation CV64"

  • they should had the veterans fly the planes off the carrier....that woulda been sweet

  • i loved this movie. this was my fav part.

  • Some people like to nit pick n bitch about everything....shut the fuck up and enjoy the movie!

  • From everything I read on thiat mission (and believe me I've researched the heck out of it) I thought they were supposed to already be at "Max Power!" before they released the brakes on the Hornet....

  • Don't you think a heavy plane taking off from a much shorter runway would ALREADY be at max power before the brakes got released? Just curious.
