Building a compost hot house for winter out of old windows and plastic. Now rather than freeze till spring my compost will rot and be ready for spring planting!

  • Thanks, its become an accidental green house over the summer with a volunteer squash or melon coming up! Its thriving and i'm hoping its water melon but not sure!

  • The heat depends on the day, I should double check but it is ussualy at least 10 degrees warmer in the daytime.

  • Thanks, it is making the most amazing compost I have ever had! And with small amounts of moisture, 4-6 gallons a week, the humidity is rotting the compost faster than I ever imagined!

  • Yes I am hopining to expand this idea, i would like to build green house type additions to both my sheds as well. A am also thhinking of using a portion of my deck.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Did you wonder that if it got hot enuf, it could warm a green house and you could grow plants in very late Fall! ?? in a few pots around the compost.
