@ameiliz They're wrong - ice is best for any type of inflammation. The only time that heat is better than ice with this condition is if you have degenerative disc disease as well.

Thank you for the information. My Doc never told me anything about the ICE. I have the pain on my buttlock and right leg. He usualy put on a contraction table.

Wow! Best info I've gotten so far and I'm 4 1/2 weeks into this episode with a herniated disc at c6/7. I've been living with my heating pad and coincidentally started using ice just a few days ago out of sheer desperation. It's already helped! I will turn off that heating pad and stick to the ice from here on out. Hoping to get this to resolve without the surgery my NeuroSurgeon is adamant is necessary.

@libbysouder I'm glad you found it helpful - I would avoid the surgery also if possible. If you go to my website (I can't list it here, but it's in the video that you watched), I have a video there and I talk about some research that compares the success rate of surgery to conservative care, and they all agree that surgery is not the best choice unless you've tried everything else first.

What are the symptom of a ruptured disc?
ameiliz 1 year ago
@ameiliz They are the same as a herniated disc, only usually more severe.
