Paul Robeson sings "Little Man, you've had a Busy Day" on HMV record no.B8202, and played on my HMV 202 re-entrant gramophone. This gramophone has the largest internal horn ever made for an acoustic gramophone.

  • i thought the hmv 1a had the largest internal horn, do you have ol man river by paul robeson

  • Amazing song. My grandad used to play in a dance band in Scotland and this was part of his repertoire. I used to love listening to him play the piano and sing to me. This song has brought back some very emotional memories.

I'm 35 now and try to sing it to my son, not as well as Mr Robeson here though!!!

    Thanks for posting.

  • They become part of the family don't they. We miss ours all the time, never thought it would affect me like this.

  • My late father used to sing this to me every night.I always think of him when i hear it and still love the song.

  • I'm so happy this song is here! You might laugh but our family had a most beloved dog that we sadly had to get put down last year and this was his theme tune!We can't remember how it started but from when he was a puppy we'd always sing the chorus to him.His tail would wag like mad when we started singing!I found the song by chance on an old Childrens Favourite CD about a month after we had him put down and the song brings back really happy memories of him in the home.Paul Robeson is amazing...

  • Thank you so much for posting this. My dad will love it.

  • Thank you for posting this, my mom used to sing this to me and it brought back some very special memories. thank you!

  • Great!!!

  • Oh what a wonderful story! I tried to explain what a 'kiddy car' was to one of my charges and now I can have him read this :)

  • Great. My mom was a Paul Robeson fan and she used to sing this to me almost 70 years ago. I did have my kiddie car stolen away..a Sinclair Oil Co. green truck.
