Talking for the first minute, siren starts at 3:10

Ventured out to the countryside this morning to record one of Jackson County's many tornado sirens. I chose this one over the rest because I wanted to capture the echoes of the Wail tone rising and falling across the miles of surrounding farmland and hilly countryside. My iPhone 4 never ceases to amaze me. Video quality isn't stellar but the sound that the internal mic captured was worth it for me. Enjoy!

-Time: 11 AM

-Location: Intersection of Cooper Farm Road and Hwy 334, Nicholson, GA

-Siren model: Whelen 'Vortex' belt driven with wind deflector

-Tone: Wail, 3 minutes, original sound card before the new, current sound card

  • As far as I know, these are the only sirens that have ever been here.

  • @garyhstorms10 Nope. This was newly installed in the late 90's

  • @vtwinbreed, and it sounds like creepy music when you hear

whelen 3016's and newer 4004's with different tones mixed

    in.

  • Did this Whelen replace a Thunderbolt 1000T

  • Thankfully that's not a Thunderbolt.. That sound is soooooo erie when the harmonics hit across the open fields..
