Brava, non c'è che dire. Ma certamente non è quel fenomeno vocale e interpretativo che l'industria del disco ha fatto credere a molti che sia. Un buon soprano di coloratura. E con un vibrato che andrebbe un po' sistemato. Niente di più, niente di meno.

@Teresiamusica Además tengamos en cuenta el embarazo, soy consciente de que hay factores que impiden que lo hiciera al mismo nivel que otras ocasiones, y bueno, Diana Damrau es una soprano impresionante, eso no se me ocurriría negarlo :)

@leporello89 En eso estamos muy de acuerdo, el bel canto no es su fuerte. Pero a pesar de no ser de nuestro total gusto y que tú le hayas escuchado una mejor versión, su nivel de canto estuvo igualmente notable! Aunque, insisto, acuerdo contigo en que ella se luce mucho más en otro repertorio.

@Teresiamusica Pues una noche en la que hubiera clavado el aria, tuve la oportunidad de verla en Madrid cantando esta misma escena y puedo asegurar que estuvo bastante mejor :)

De todos modos insisto, la Damrau a pesar de ser mi soprano favorita, en belcanto no me gusta demasiado...

La Damrau dovrebbe capire che cantare Mozart è diverso che cantare Bellini, diverso da Donizzetti, ancor di più Verdi. Tende a cantare tutto in maniera simile questa esasperazione "tentata" di interpretazione che la porta a chiudeere la bocca quasi a spezzare i suoni le fa perdere la fluidità Indispensabile per il bel canto. Ricominci a studiare dalla Pagliughi in dietro e sicuramente diventerà un colosso.

yes. Netrebko is exaggerating in some passages and sings it unnessecarily in forte. Diana is so sincere and has in each single moment maximum control over her voice without pressing and without any stiffness. I like also her presentation: dolor - gioia, both are very convincing. She's really in it!

I prefer diana's interpretation. I find it also better than bartoli with too much vibrato and who, with all her faces seems to exhaust herself. her gioia does not convince me.

And by the way, in the same concert, Waltraud Meier gives me the real Isolde (in my opinion of course), so I wouldn't we so "narrow minded" saying that she is just a "mezzo". For me, she is one of the greatest Isoldes so I won't have to care about the classification. If Bartoli can reach the notes written by Bellini, she can also be the right one.
