François Cevert, de son vrai nom Albert François Cevert Goldenberg, était un pilote automobile français né le 25 février 1944 à Paris (France), et décédé le 6 octobre 1973 sur le circuit de Watkins Glen lors des essais qualificatifs du GP des États-Unis.
En 1983, les élèves ont décidé de donner son nom au lycée professionnel d'Ecully. Une place de la ville de Vaison-la-Romaine (Vaucluse) porte également son nom, ainsi que des rues à Angers, La Roche-sur-Yon, Linas...
François Cevert est enterré dans le village de Vaudelnay dans le Maine-et-Loire.

Nice tribute-some photos I'd not before seen.I race at the Glen several times a year,and often get a strange feeling going through the fast esses and often think briefly of Francois at that point-probably around 150 mph. Weird.I honestly believe with Jackie out Francois would have been World Champ in 74. Destiny unfulfilled. Godspeed FC.
