I Disagree. Anyway can be a medium if they put the work in. Of course you often find that mediums often have other mediums in their lineage. I think it's absurd to suggest that spiritual abilities come from family members and not through spirit. I know amazing mediums who don't have anyone in their family who are mediums. They sat and worked at it day in and day out, and practiced. How very limiting. It reminds me of that crap - all mediums are psychic, but not all psychics are mediums. Really?
@TrollOvGrimness From Korean Muism to Japanese Shinto, ancestor worship is common in the East. It was only rubbed out in the west because of persecution. It exists literally everywhere else
The anthropological evidence of mediumship within human cultures across the world far outweighs any scientific evidence or lack of scientific evidence in support of or against the reality of spiritual mediumship. It had been part of human culture for thousands of years and seemed to have resurfaced in the USA and Europe almost as soon as the freedom existed there for it to do so
@castramon2 I would not have been able to become a medium, attuned, without first recognizing and being fully aware of my inherited innate ability to communicate with the spirits.
@castramon2 I disagree.. he is correct.. When I was a child my parents had told me a story of when the night Nana died she had visited my father and uncle at their bedsides. It has been a long time since I had heard that story I should ask them again but that was the jist of it.. when I attuned myself to reiki I had become aware that in the past when I was in high school and listening to the school band I had felt and been consciously aware of the empathic vibrations shuddering in my body.
Unfortunately your red tape, politics and ego's will always get in the way of the truth. One day the snu will open their eyes to the true possibilities that lay ahead, in the meantime carry on with your dillusional facade.
The SNU has lost its pathway from the true purpose of why Arthur Findlay donated his lovely home to them. He wanted the movement to continue the researach and development of Physical Mediumship for materialisation, but I understand this is something the SNU will NOT uphold. Arthur has been through many sitters in Trance at different circles to air his disaoppointment at how his home is being used and as for the commercial aspect of it now he is disgusted.
Mediums are born, you can't develop the skill. Is this the view of the SNU and if so, what a shame! - sorry but it smacks of elitism and does not sit well with me. I am a medium and teach others to "develop" the ability. I believe it is just like learning another language, if you want to lean to do it, you can. - Paul, we have met, you are a lovely man and a great Medium, I just wonder whether tying yourself to the SNU is a good idea?
Spiritualism only interests most people to the extent that they want to communicate with somene who they ahve known who has died. I think that is a lot easier for most people because there is that motivation to communicate with them.

@dylans8 Vague answers are a clear sign of carnival palmists. Just because these practitioners are not legitimate doesn't mean none are.
