  • dude piels is all over we drink it all the time at our school its amazing

  • Fixed that in the description. That's what I get for not living in the northeast...still, from the way Wikipedia talks, it sounds like the glory days are past.

  • Where did you find this footage? My grandfather did the animation of some of the Piels brothers ads.

  • I can't speak for Naked Gord up there, but my copy came from a compilation tape of 1950s advertising. I really get a kick out of the 50s animated ads, so your granddad rocks by extension. :)

  • @3zy The Piel Brothers commercials were produced either at UPA's NY branch or at Terrytoons later, both were headed by Gene Deitch who started these at UPA before bringing them over to Terrytoons later.

  • Hey thanks for that. I originated from the north east and remember Burt & Harry very well, mostly during baseball season. I was a little kid than but remember my dad getting a kick out of their humor to the point of picking up a few of their phrases that we’d throw around years after. Thanks again, that was a hoot, and brought back fine memories. My dad would have appreciated it too...

  • This commercial is Public Domain and is included in the Madacy Entertainment 2-DVD package of classic TV commercials. It also has the classic Rheingold "parade" ad from about the same time frame.

  • I sure did, thanks..I am a two finger "pecker" who worships the spell check feature on any site! I loved those guys growing up in Cape May NJ in the early 60's. I hope they still make it.

  • you spelled piels wrong. haha

  • Peils is a Philadelphia product and was marketed towards us in the area. Their commercials were great, but I get the marketing concern. Still iPOD the one restored for the Duke University Marketing Program. Thanks for this one too.

  • Makes sense since they hardly mentioned the beer or showed the label. I watched it in amazement but didn't know what beer they were advertising but I knew Jacque was from Montreal.

  • Yes, Deitch directed these Piels spots, 'baker'...

  • In college, I took a marketing class. My professor mentioned the "Bert and Harry" commercials of the late 50's. He said that they were so popular that they'd be listed in the TV listings, so people could tune in just to see THEM. The ad campaign was changed though, when Piels realized that, although people loved the commercials, beer sales showed that they weren't attracting any new customers.

  • OOPS, I just saw that you indicated it was Bob and Ray in your expanded description! Anyway, they WERE great.
