My son was diagnosed with Autism and has watched Ellen since he was born with his mother. He's speech has been very limited so he expresses himself through body language. Sadly, we were not able to get his normal performance after several attemps. He typically would mimic Ellen by dancing, waving and blow kisses at the beginning, We were only able to get him blowing kisses. If you listen closely you can here Ellen playing in the background.

  • Yes he is taking speech therapy five days a week. He has improved so much.

  • However, there are other signs that are big indicators. We really began to notice when he turned three because he was so far behind.

  • how do you know your kid is autistic? What do you look for at 2 years old and 3 years old??

My daughter doesn't speak well on her own (it sounds like gibberish), but she'll mimic you very well with her words, (almost exactly). She turned 2 this past August. She's behind in her speach.

  • @tiffyj85, I would love to talk to you about this, we noticed something when he didn't start walking and talking when he needed to. We took him to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and had him tested. It you have any doubt get your child tested, just for your well being....

  • Does he take speech therapy? I didn't talk until I was 4 and now I speak 8 languages. 3 of my cousins 7 kids are on the spectrum and her first two had severe speech trouble. They only said a few words as late as 5 yrs old. Today they are 17 and 16 and speak very, very well. Best of luck :)
