After you cut the guts off was it dead?
The taste is hard to discribe...Nothing taste like abalone....Maybe a mixture of lobster and chicken? It's delicious....

It's a red abalone with the shell tip red...The black is on the skirt. Sorry for the confusion...

how are the pearls very expensive if u cant sell them nice abs in australia the most common size is half that

It the pearl is not taken with a CDFG license it can be sold.....they do find them on the beaches now and then...
