Murray, Spezza and fans react to Dany Heatley's trade request

Over the last few weeks, the actions of disgruntled sniper Dany Heatley have Ottawa Senators management, players and fans feeling frustrated.

Shortly prior to the 2009 NHL Draft, Heatley requested a trade out of Ottawa through his agents, citing his dissatisfaction over his diminished playing time and role with the club since Cory Clouston took over as coach in February. Despite Heatley's request, he turned down a trade proposal that would have sent him to the Edmonton Oilers for Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner and Ladislav Smid.

isn't it just like getting a job offer for somewhere you don't want to work? maybe he just didn't like the city of edmonton or the coworkers? i think it's hard to judge when you don't know the person. maybe i'm wrong...

While I don't disagree with your perspective, I consider the NHL very different than the typical job that most of us work. Wanting out is one thing, but I think the way Heatley handled it is what fans were angry at. No reason, no justification, no anticipation of it - it just came out of the blue, putting the team in a vulnerable position and forcing it to dramatically change its plans for the summer. It wasn't fair to the organization OR its fans - a rather selfish move as far as I'm concerned.
