This video tutorial demonstrates the virtues of the new Web 2.0-like software from our friends in Redmond, WA. Movie Maker in the M$ live bundle provides a video editing platform for the upcoming Windows 7 release in October. Ease of use, direct YouTube uploads and DVD burning are a few of the features returning to Movie Maker after Microsoft has been steadily removing features in the Vista version. The only cons are that notorious wmv format and the lack of customized "Ken Burns" effect. A small step backward from Photo Story 3. This release reminds me a little of the iLife suite of tools from Cupertino.
UPDATE: The download is now part of the Windows Live Essentials 2011 package. http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials?os=other to get the original Movie Maker 2.6 go to http://www.microsoft.com/DOWNLOADS/details.aspx?FamilyID=d6ba5972-328e-4df7-8...

  • PLEASE.....w/Win. Moive Mkr 7, I cannot figure out how to DIVIDE a 28 min movie in half. I've trimed so 14 on Pt 1, & 13min on Pt 2....however, all that did was give title & credit in start/end of each piece...I CAN'T get them to divide, and become 2 videos, uploading 2 different videos. WHY???

Need to get up B-4 XMAS...been trying x 3 days, and ready to throw out PC! Pls help! Thank you.

  • Also Windows Movie Maker 6 for Windows Vista works on Windows 7, and can be downloaded from the Internet. I have got both 2.6 and 6 on my Windows 7. I tried Windows Live Movie Maker, but it's not user friendly at all. Windows Movie Maker 2.6 and 6 are better,or 2.1 if you are on Windows XP. Andrea Borman.

  • Well since I am new at editing any kind of movie and have Windows 7 this one on XP does not look familar and even though I have a computer with xp it did not come with Window's movie maker and I did not download it cause I did not have a video camera. So I have had to learn this on my own with whatever resources I can come up with.
