My strategy for beating dig dogger is to put the spike ball in the middle of the room and keep it there. When he flies up to jump on stand right next to spike ball and move at the last second. Then just bash a ball into him and you can get almost for hits at a time that way.

I did a sorta similar tactic towards the end, but I hate that thing's hitbox and want to stay away.
