Early UFC was brutal back in the day. Now its like the evolution of fighting, Learn what works throw out what doesn't. At the end a lot of people think there is no more diversity but individuals are diverse. Get in any ring and your not representing 'karate' or 'judo' you are representing yourself.

The fight at 0:47 was the first MMA contest that I had ever seen. I'll always remember Pat Smith since he was truly something to behold in those days. No jiu-jitsu at all, pure striker. I had never seen anything like that before. MMA actually meant mixed martial arts back then; now it's essentially its own fighting style.

I'm glad somebody put this together, as I think Pat Smith was the 'baddest' guy in the old days of MMA - forget Ken Shamrock, Gracie, Severn etc, Smith was so vicious and unpredictable. Nice head kick at the Sabaki (which he won prior to UFC 1)
