From the back burner in the kitchen of the Cappnonymous Research Labs...

Is the PayPal security keyfob really safe?
Is it really reliable?

You decide.

Independent tests seem to conclude otherwise.
I strongly urge folks to download the suggested pdf file and view the complete results for themselves.
What is seen here is only a fraction of the total info there, and to be honest, none of it makes the Paypal keyfob look good in comparison, IMO.

Also follow suggested links.

All this information was taken from publicly available sources, and this is not an endorsement from any of the organizations seen in the video, nor does Cappnonymous have any connection to them whatsoever.

This was intended to be part of a larger video, but had to be split apart due to time constraints on YT. So look for more coming soon

  • for only 5 bucks, it cant hurt. Sure, its not durable, but neither are any of the other electronic devices you use daily. Also, its most likely a good sign that you could only find 2 complaints from users. At the end of the day, if you already use paypal, its better to have one of these than to not have one.

  • @aradioactivedonut

LOL, it's a failed viral advertising gadget IMO. Nothing more. If it was safe they would give it away the same way they gave 5 bucks for signing on long ago.

Carole Reynolds, senior lawyer/FTC states: "The strongest protections are when you pay by credit card"

At the end of the day, Paypal is a barrier between you & your rights as consumer or merchant.

Read that PP ToS carefully! It's a comedy!

How safe is it keeping the paypal - iTunes hacking epidemic victims?

  • Hey Capp I just saw the funniest thing. A major, household name credit card company has a new online payment service commercial. They disrespected the paypal 21 day holds by mentioning that you'll get paid 3 weeks quicker than 'others' with no games and real customer service. ROTFLMAO!

  • @GoodbyeEbay

I think I saw the one you mean. There was some articles recently about credit card companies getting more involved in online payments. At least they probably have some rules they follow, unlike paypal eg;the way paypal operates outside and/or ignores the various state's money-transmitter license terms.

For whatever reason the comments here say only 9 comments at this time, however there are 11 more of them buried if you click "view all comments"

Maybe posting this one will "unglitch" it lol

  • While I do not doubt that it may not be the best seurity measure they could come up with, is it not worth it if you use paypal a lot and the fob is only $5? I think it would only be not worth getting if it made things worse and not better.

  • Hello kieranmullen.

    Thanks for watching & commenting.

Payapl's TOS and policies, along with their customer service are far more dangerous than hackers. The TOS was changed about 60-70 times inside a couple month's period in 2009. Sound normal?

Read sections 10 and 14 of the PP User Agreement. It is loaded with slippery slimy weasel words.

Hackers are the sharks in the water. PP user agreement is holes in your flimsy boat. ebay is a whirlpool. PP-ebay customer service is Gilligan on crack.

  • Looks like someone must not really know too much about Paypal or how they operate if they don't know anything about those 21 day holds or rolling reserves, huh?

On second thought, could be just someone telling lies.

Who, or should I say 'what', do we know that tells lots of lies?

Plus I see good ol reliable paypal went down for the count a couple days back. Again.

    I see what you mean.

  • I smell PP-eb's MO alright. Ignore what is in front of them.

    Change the subject.

    Blame the user/victim.

    Insult them.

    Call them derogatory names.

Just think, they laid off x number of real employees, kept the trolls and stalkers.

We all see it everyday, everytime we look anywhere there is "noise".

    A very transparent ruse.

Too funny. That is an element of the criminal nature of this scandalous outfit.

    Thanks again GBE
