@iwousa: True, I've had a MK5 GTI since 2008 and it's brilliant, especially in being able to manage the fun twisties and bumper to bumper traffic... Can't quite find a car to change to that manages that contrast of driving circumstances in quite the same way.

I don't care if people say oh cute small cars.. Most Americans don't know squat about hatchbacks! I've had 5 series.., E46 M3, S500 and I'll tell you that for daily use, considering practicality, fun and gas mileage, the GTI is one of e best cars out there !

I just got the 2012 GLI 6-speed and LOVE IT. It is the same engine - 2.0 turbo - biggest downside is no Xenon lights.
