i want to make the hat for my 4 year old son , can i use the 14 gauge gavalanized steel wire still or do youi suggest another size ? or does it depend ? thank you i appreciate it very much :)

@habibiseba I would still suggest using the 14 gauge wire. I've made several top hats ranging in all different sizes and this thickness of wire has done the best job at helping the top hat hold it's shape.

I was wondering how you cut your fabric to avoid creases? I looked on your blog but it doesn't really specify how its cut. I appreciate it! :-)

@Camixxxxxxxxxx there was a link on my blog to a lampshade recovering tutorial, which is what I used to avoid having the fabric bunching. The link is between the third and fourth photos. I tried posting the link but YouTube keeps removing it for some reason, even though it's a link to a YouTube vid. LOL

What kind of wire did you use for the brim? Great hat!!!

@MrTravisJoe I used 14 gauge galvanized steel wire which you can find at any home improvement store or craft stores. Just make sure you get 14 gauge because after trial and errors, I found this was the only gauge of wire that would hold the shape. If you need further directions, visit the new updated link I just posted in the video description that will give you a step by step process in creating the hat! Hope this helps!
