semplicemente ridicolo...
-
@matthieusarah hahahahah, omg, you are so right!
-
This is crazy but it made me happy, so, thank you!! Keenlyside is a rare operasinger, the kind that can make poeople who are not into opera see the beauty in it!! Love your work Simon
-
@margyoseven ridicolo, no?
-
@tenore23 the problem is i would like to have it with this cast. can´t you put here more from this production and with Keenlyside please:-))) ?
-
is it possible to get a dvd of the whole production?
-
how come don giovanni is using a phone:-)?
-
Drunk dial, ha
-
Yeah, trash was allover, but if you saw the whole production it made sense. Donna Anna was also a great theatrical character... instead of a raped virgin, Bieito portrays a consentant lover who, after the disaster of her father's death, hides her guilt and lust behid a fake, hypocritical, double-standard innocence, whilst still trying to have sex with Giovanni and totally manipulating Ottavio.

chatting online with his webcam

The telephone gimmick is just plain idiotic.Simon is a marvellous mozartean singer !!!
-
The phone thing is absolutely ridiculous! It ruins the entire aria! But simon is still the best for this particular aria. I completely fall in love with him each time I hear him singing it! Could someone give me his phone number.
-
the best orfeo ever!
-
Maybe the best interpertation of this piece
i have even heard. i like the way he signs the word "veder" near the end. just great...really soft and tender singing...
the sets and the costumes really suck...
-
I agree with you. This production has moments both good and bad. The depiction of Elvira as a little neurotic who binges in food and shopping was a stoke of genius. The killing of the Comendatore was powerful. Other moments were just trash.
I think the danger of modern productions is when it stops being a production and turns into an object of shock for shock value.
-
I'm not sure what I think about this production, but he sounds really good in this. I wasn't a big fan of Keenlyside, but he keeps getting better. I also think it's interesting when directors modernize operas. I did a modern version of Pirates of Penzance last summer. All modern productions have their "flaws" but they can be very powerful is really thought through.
-
Poor, poor Simon. Why the phone?
-
He is a wonderful singer. But I doubt one can say the same about the director... forceful originality.
I bet that with such a staging Leporello's catalogo is now on his Blackberry

Or in his laptop, in excel.

@tenore23 excel would be good, Leporello could easily add up f.e. how many girls of each nationality or age his master has had:-))

@eurydike well, now we have entered the ipad generation, so it would still be excell, but not on a laotop, but on an ipad.

@tenore23 well, thats too much it terminology, i am glad i know what to with excel (not much though:-))
cant you put here more videos from don giovanni? is it possible to buy a dvd ?
eurydike 1 year ago
@eurydike The production is available for purchase on DVD, but not with this cast. You can find it on Amazon, the stage director is Calixto Bieito and i am sure if you search for "Mozart Giovanni Bieito" you will find it.
