  • if one of u guys have the time, can u tell me the entire plot of mgs? i kno its alot, i tried reading off of other things, just didnt really understand. if non of you cant its ok

  • @IgorWelkenbach The whole game is a giant allegory for reality, it's literally a video game about a video game that's attempting to pass it's self off as real. Before making SOL, Kojima must have been infatuated with The Matrix, as it borrows quite a few elements. Too many players tried to rationalize the story in the traditional narrative sense, and if you do you miss the forest through the trees. Remember, this was to be the final metal gear, what a fitting end.

  • @IgorWelkenbach Solidus wants out of the sim, by crushing the patriots he can leave v.r. and become 'human' (think agent smith from the matrix) Ocelot is self-aware of the sim and enjoys playing it (until he has occasional possessions ;p) The Patriots are the game masters or literally the game developers, while solid snake is the wise sage (hideo kojima) while knowing he's 'in a game' decides to make the best of it and impart wisdom on the player (Raiden/Jack/John Doe/You).

  • @IgorWelkenbach Continued; Jack/John Doe has no mental identity or ego, he lives off replaying V.R. simulations of Shadow Mosses thus easing into the ego of both Solid Snake (the hero of shadow mosses) and Raiden (V.R. junkie infatuated with S.S.) The characters of Solidius Snake, Revolver Ocelot and Solid Snake and The patriots are deus ex machina, a.i. with self-awareness, although their awareness is limited to the scope of Big Shell. More to come...!

  • @IgorWelkenbach Here's my theory, take it with a grain of salt; the Big Shell Incident is a V.R. simulation conducted by The Patriots to test GW's capabilities. The tanker incident is a part of this as well, it sets the narrative for the player (Raiden, who's literally playing as Snake) to base the reality of Big Shell on. Raiden doesn't even exist as we know him, the blonde foxhound rookie, that's the image the patriots give to "Jack/John Doe" a guinea pig inside arsenal.

  • I never understood crap about this ending. So the US is ran by a secret sect of wackos, the "patriots", who seek external enemies in order to keep the population in their leash and expand their power with the support of corporate interests? No, that's real life. The game's scenario, I still don't have a clue what it is.

  • When people say video games are not art, I direct them to this game. Sure it may not have the aesthetic beauty of Shadow of The Colossus or Ico, but it's direction, pacing, framing&blocking, score give any Hollywood film a run for it's money. Not to mention it's story and message reach heights Final Fantasy could only dream of. It's use of post-modernism, coy societal commentary and insight into 'reality' are masterful. Snake is literally telling the player to 'decide their own fate'.

  • Vamp @ 5:21
