@Smitty please for heaven's sake stop using Oracle unless you are as dumb as those dbas. gone are those days. Bunch of mainframe engineers are building this software now. What can you expect?

Are you good with Oracle? I'm having problems connecting to a newly installed copy of 11g. ORA-12560 error. I installed Loopback adapter, gave it IP 10.10.10.10 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0, and I added the ip and pc-name to the hosts file in XP. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. This is really frustrating. Please help me, thanks.
