Why are people getting so upset? This video was made in 2007. A lot of more recent videos have a higher resolution than this, hers is just put into words better. Just watch this for the audio and slight visual, and then search for a different one to watch with better visuals. Her videos really explain things better than many others.

O_e It would be awesome if I could actually see what you were doing.

Why didnt you do a backwards stitch to secure the thread from unraveling

The resolution is so low you can't see a damn thing. Even if it was higher, there's an Expert Village logo right over her hands. WTF?

fuck you expert village

how do u set ur seam allowance to 5\8

Oh, expert village. Quantity!... Quality?

You ruin your needle and can send metal flying into your face if you sew over the pins. but god tutorial.

Orca, I am afraid not many people do sew by hand anymore. Small projects maybe and I always teach my children to sew at least a little by hand. I always do buttons by hand rather than with a machine. My grandmother still quilts by hand but younger people like our machines (not that I am young, just younger than my grandmother lol). However you can pick up a book pretty cheaply at Books a Million for hand sewing. I saw one just last week. I have found vids on hand sewing appliques to. Good luck.
@drdichro YES! Pressing makes the difference between professional results and Becky Home-ecky Made at Home with Love look. You should spend as much time pressing as you do actually sewing, if not more. Press as you go. B.T.W. Pressing is applying pressure and steam if appropriate for the fabric, not sliding the iron back and forth. That is ironing not pressing. Also, press before opening the seam. This is called sandwich pressing and sets the stitching in. Then, open the seams and press.

Candi, Great information - but, at such a distance, we can't see what you're doing. A close up would be more helpful. Thanks, Peg
