Taser footage sparks public outrage in UK

Nottingham police are being investigated after cellphone footage was posted on YouTube yesterday, showing officers shooting a man twice with a Taser and then beating him.

The footage shows four officers attempting to arrest a man lying on the ground.

The man resists arrest and a police officer Tasers him, the man then writhes around on the ground so the officer Tasers him again.

A policeman is then shown to punch the man in the head repeatedly.

The footage has sparked criticism from human rights groups who are calling for the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) to investigate police use of Tasers.

The footage quickly drew heated response after being played on Nottinghams local radio station Trent FM and posted on YouTube.

Nottinghamshire police said they were attempting to arrest the 40-year-old after local theatre door staff reported he was causing a nuisance.

The man was later taken into custody charged on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Assistant Chief Constable Peter Davies said the incident has been referred to the IPCC for and objective investigation.

The second time it was fired the wires and/or barbs were not connected to the suspect. He would have reacted otherwise! Typical press blowing it of proportion.

Police look like animals. Whose the psychos according to this video? Doing wrong doesn't make anything right. They dealt with this very wrong. Hope they were kicked out of the police gang after this, they don't deserve a job or respect.

@codmansam That's only an excuse that trigger happy individuals use, I bet loads get an adrenaline rush by treating their fellow human beings like animals by using a larger punishment for a lesser action. Hmmmm not putting ur hands behind ur back, well i got a pair i can use to sort that out, if he/she then resists physically then i believe tasing is a satisfactory method to detain a pugnacious delinquent but only if it is a must, it has a lethal record for many ppl.
