John talks about studying with Milton Katselas and the Beverly Hills Playhouse. John says that because of Milton and the Beverly Hills Playhouse he is enjoying his work now, that he looks forward to what he's doing. He used to get the jobs and would be miserable. Now he is enjoying the work again. The rawness is back in his work. John has been studying at the BHP for 7 years and the changes have happened gradually. As years have gone on, he feels that he is a different person than he was when he started. He knows how to attack a role, he's more patient, his attitude is better, he is a happy person, and he plays again. Penny Fuller is the person who introduced John to Milton. She would talk about class and John had never studied with anybody. When he got out of school he started acting and never thought he needed to study. About 7 years ago John started realizing how unhappy he was acting, and he saw Rick Podell at the gym and asked if he could come to see a class. John realized in that class that something very powerful was going on. He knew that there was something exciting here that could get him out of this funk that he was in about his work. John feels that Milton has an insight into people. John says that Milton is a very wise sage and one of the most generous people he has ever met. With each student, Milton can intuit what's up, and see what kind of a mood each person is in. Milton seems to know what we each personally need. He's an amazing teacher. John's one regret is that he didn't find him and the Beverly Hills Playhouse sooner. He is learning to cut out the restrictions that he had put on myself in his acting.

He is so brilliant an actor I thought he had a British acting history (RSC or something).

Just watching him enforces the saying that you bring yourself to every role you do. I can see many of his gestures and fluctuations of tone in his Lionel Luthor role.
