While Thatcher waged a war in the Falklands, distracting the people, it waged another war at home - against Trade Unions. Distraction was all it was about. Iraq and Afghanistan (and whose next Nkorea? Iran?) are basically on the same ground. The US govt is in war with it's own people.

1) I'm not against all kinds of nationalism, just against nationalism that is based on war and fear of foreigners

2) UK government doesn't give A SHIT about the settlers. They want that strategical position for defense and economical reasons. So, the argument of "they are protecting uk citizens" is simply avoiding the main issue of freaking colonialism (which, for your information, is basically wrong in the 21th century)
