(September 20, 2010) Leonard Susskind gives a lecture on the string theory and particle physics. He is a world renown theoretical physicist and uses graphs to help demonstrate the theories he is presenting.

String theory (with its close relative, M-theory) is the basis for the most ambitious theories of the physical world. It has profoundly influenced our understanding of gravity, cosmology, and particle physics. In this course we will develop the basic theoretical and mathematical ideas, including the string-theoretic origin of gravity, the theory of extra dimensions of space, the connection between strings and black holes, the "landscape" of string theory, and the holographic principle.

This course was originally presented in Stanford's Continuing Studies program.

Your mouth's the perfect size... for your foot. You're a person of rare intelligence. It's rare when you show any.

Why are you having this conversation with him. If you look at his activity this is all he does on youtube is talk shit about videos. he is trolling and you are walking right into it without even thinking.

Trying to learn bits and pieces about string theory.

Been watching a video before bed everynight.

Not getting very far but it's incredibly interesting! Why don't we have more funding for research into these areas?

We spend billions on absolute rubbish, when we could be learning more about the fabric of life.

Never thought I would say this but Physics rules!

you really don't know what you're talking about. This guy is one of the co-founders of string theory. Believe me, he knows what he's talking about.

First of all learn to spell. Secondly, if you think you're tough for posting such a stupid comment on this video, think again. People watching this video are way smarter than you and that includes me because in order to understand this video, you need to have taken math and physics classes up to the graduate level. Once again, get a life

I'm sorry you don't understand this video, perhaps if you graduated from primary school you would have a greater appreciation of the enjoyment of mathematical physics. Sesame street made some valuable introductory lectures on the use of the number seven, I think this would be a good place for you to start :) good luck!

I think science can not produce a theory of everything because science is about matter and they are not even taking in consideration the consciousness wich without understanding it we can not understand anything

lol, basic physics as in the fundamental of fundamentals, such as high school physics? if u are referring to that, u shouldnt be looking at susskind's videos; they are pretty rigorous in material. however, if you're referring to something like classical mechanics, at a more complex level, delving into the lagrangian and the hamiltonian etc., just watch his lecture series; this man is probably one of the top 5 lecturers in the US, maybe even world, ur gonna get for physics.
