hey, Circuit Girl > meet my friend, the hobby servo. (servocity-dot-com)
You can get synchronized scans to your system with a proportional servo. As it is now, the hdd platter is doing semi-morphs.

What's the benefit of this in the scanner? Surely the paper is always in the same place (sitting on top of the glass) so what do they gain by adding a servo to move the lenses/mirrors rather than just setting it in one position at the factory?

I have an honest question; I'm not trying to be a jerk. Why does the guy have to be in the videos? What is he bringing to the table? He interrupts too much and his portion of the video takes up precious real estate. JMHO. Don't mean to hurt any feelings....

if only you could translate that data into an Autocad file. calvinthedestroyer breaks out his copy of Weird Science!

This scanner has lenses and mirrors, so it has more depth than a contact image sensor in the cheap scanners. I can spot the cheap ones immediately, because they're low profile.

Interesting idea. Video feedback going to your chicken rotisserie. :)
