slav is a descendant word from the word sclavus first used by Greek Byzantines to denote the slaves from the north, the ones that we now call slavs. you can find more information in the linguistic analysis of the origin of the word sclavus, for example the paper "Linguistic Marginalia on Slavic Ethnogenesis" by Sorin Paliga from the University of Bucharest. @dacki11 hey this isn't very polite from you. as I explained in another post, the word slav means slave. there aren't any native macedonians left apart from about 10,000. so you can't ask people to believe that because you have around 10,000 native macedonians and 2 million slavs (= slaves) you must also have the Greek name Macedonia, which designates a whole territory, for you. You can be Northern Macedonia if you like. but you will never be Hellenes nor true Macedonians.

@Gerechtable Ancient Macedonia vanished from history in 2nd century A.D. after it's defeat by Rome and became a Roman province,thus de facto didn't exist as a kingdom any more.But Macedonians on the other hand didn't turn into Romans.They stayed in their homeland and were still there when Slavs settled 4 centuries later,and in time they,along with the other natives of Macedonia lost their identity and accepted Slavic culture and language.Clear enough for you,birdbrain?So go suck a cock,malaka!
