Irish Green Party: Eamon Ryan pumps for Shell

The Green Party promised great things when they were looking for votes, but now John Gormley and Eamon Ryan are government ministers in Bertie Ahern's coalition, and they are presiding over the installation of the Shell refinery in county Mayo, the same one they used to campaign against. Some Shell to Sea'ers got onto the roof of the Department of Natural Resources and unfurled a banner to protest at the giveaway of Ireland's resources, the destruction of the environment, and the assault on the health and safety of the people in Erris.

Nobody except Shell thinks the pipeline is safe. It's a production pipeline pumping high pressure gas through a residential area, something NEVER tried before.

The whole thing is an experiment, designed just to save SHell money. SHell, which is one of the richest organisationas in the world, is putting Irish people's lives, the Irish environemtn, and the Irish economy at risk so they can get more profits for their shareholders , and the Green Party supporters are helping them. Shame.
