Kayaking the upper Jondachi and Papallacta rivers in Ecuador.
I returned to Ecuador in late November 2009 to paddle some of the creeks I missed on my first trip in February (namely the Jondachi, Papallacta, Piatua, Cossanga and Quijos). The weather was unusually dry - the only rain that fell in the time I was there was during the 5 minute hike to the put in of the upper Jondachi. Even at low water the rivers were still tons of fun. Apologies for the underwhelming video - the continuous nature of the whitewater required that I focus more on paddling than filming. However, it still shows the character of the rivers and quality of the whitewater well enough.
Paddlers are Darren, Kurt, Pat, and Randy. Many thanks to Andrea, Chris, Marco, and Dave at Endless Adventure for an amazing experience in Ecuador (http://www.endlessadventureinternational.com/ ).
takes me back bra!! Too bad the Jondachi's days are numbered. THAT PLACE IS A UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.
