An original song from ARTE television's 2006 show on NYC musicians. We set up on this waterfront street in Dumbo - which was coincidentally the site of many illegal high school high jinx of mine - to perform this odd tune of mine, and no sooner had we started that neighbors began to complain (it aint like the neighborhood used to be, when roving packs of wild dogs were our only companions down there, and we could break in and wander around many of the "not-warehouses-anymore-but-not-luxury-condos-yet". No, I'm not kidding.) Anyhoo, as always seems to happen in my life, an old childhood acquaintance, Nadja Block, happened to live upstairs, and she kindly put her neighbors at ease. [Note: This kind of thing can happen to you too, if you opt, as I have, to live your entire life within the same 15 block radius. My strategy was to let the world come to me - and it has. You should really try it. Please. Seriously: Wherever you are, just stay put. You might be surprised at how your own hometown steps up to the plate when given a chance.]
Incidentally, the film makers wisely cut away from my twisted mug in the middle of the performance to show us brief glimpses of the ravishing and talented divas Marta Topferova and Nicole Renaud, both also featured on the show.
This great band is comprised of Will Holshouser on accordion; Danton Boller on bass; and Jon "King" Kellso on trumpet. And yes, this is exactly what our day-to-day lives are like.

Matt! We were in a band together at Brown U. I would still suck today (worse than I do suck, anyway) if not for the guitar edumacation I got from playing with him.

This is an original you say? It's fantastic. Is there somewhere I can get a chart for it? (Also, it's easy for your hometown to step up to the plate if your hometown is NYC. Just saying)
