Dorothy Collins displays her versatile ability for phrasing lyrics in this song which was launched in the 1945 film version of State Fair. The team of Rodgers and Hammerstein gave a tremendous song to live on forever and Dorothy gives a brilliant performance . • Yes, back in the 70s I did a 3-month prod. of 'Applause' with her in CT. A great Margo! She was as charming, humble, supportive and professional as you could ask for. Great fun at parties - she would turn pages for me as I played for the actors to sing. She was married to Holgate and had her adorable mom with her there. She had a rough time w/ her asthma then but always wowed our large audiences in this in-the-round dinner theatre, Candlelight. I'm now a Musical Dir. in Atl. and teach voice.

  • @soaringsound Who are you? Did you know her. I did a paper on Big Bands and fell in love with her voice.

  • SO charming! One of the warmest voices ever accompanied by one of the most lovely personalities to grace the stage. (she was just as charming and warm off-stage.) A great lady who's greatly missed.
