This lift was done raw at the New England Record Breakers powerlifting meet in Amherst, MA, May 6, 2006. I filmed it last year, and it hasnt seen wide exposure, so at least if it's up on youtube it'll be available.

Sam weighed 210 in this video!! Unbelievable ... later that year he would squat over a grand in gear at 198

  • bro, it's all about making it as hard as possible so you dont have to use real weight bro. You've got to do your squats 1-leg, overhead, ass to the grass, on a wobbleboard while ninjas fire throwing stars at you, bro. Anything else is just ego stroking, bro!

  • wearing a suit doesnt constitute anyones definition of raw ... but the APF and (I believe) the IPA both allow knee wraps under their definition of raw. Every federation of which I am aware, including 100% RAW, allows a belt under their definition of raw. So while I'm not saying you dont have a point, you're incorrect in saying it doesnt constitute raw "by any meaning of the word" and incorrect in say this is not a raw lift

  • For the record, I was wrong about the IPA, they do not allow knee wraps

  • My best ass to floor front squat was 280 at 152 and from gymnastics background, not lifting, my weighted full range dip was 233 extra showing bias for upstairs strength. "Obviously have no clue about powerlifting" is only your opinion, and I am out of time because I have several hundred other items more pressing than more argument.

  • You obviously have no clue about powerlifting or what constitutes a parallel squat. A raw parallel squat is not much different than a completely ass to ground squat. What most people, including you, think of as a parallel squat is actually more a half squat. Also, I bet you can't do much more than 225 with your so called full range squat.

  • What is it about your kind that you have to cuss others because you aren't civilized? Your 2 inches is more like 2 feet. They have "raw" bench press meets, "natural" squat meets would fill a need. And to contradict KBC no one said a lifter has to get shot in foot first. Just do full range without mechanical cheating gear. That tells real strength story. That's why overhead lifters use less weight yet are stronger in legs. Let PL into Olympics when squat goes full range.
