Anthony Venn-Brown Gay Pentecostal Preacher pt3

Anthony Venn-Brown is Australia's first openly gay Pentecostal. He was a leading minister in the Australian Assemblies of God Church before resigning his post after coming out. He currently attends Hillsong in Sydney.

He is the author of A Life of Unlearning which won the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association Literary award in 2004. The book was revised and updated in 2007.

In 2007 Anthony Venn-Brown was voted as being one of the most 25 influential Gay and Lesbian people in Australia.

Venn-Brown is a Co-founder and Convenor of Freedom 2 B[e]. The stated mission of Freedom 2 B[e] is to create a global network of GLBTIQ people from Pentecostal and Charismatic backgrounds that helps them resolve issues of faith and sexuality and creates understanding and acceptance.

In 2007 Freedom 2 B(e) gay Pentecostal and Charismatic Christians and their supporters marched in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras for the first time.

In part three of this interview he offers advice to gay Christians in Pentecostal churches. He looks to the future and believes the church will change for the better and believes the wider gay community to should work with the church for change instead of against it.

He also gives us details of a gay group and forum he runs for gay pentecostal Christians.

Two things. 1 you can't be a homosexual Christian. 2 the Bible says that you know a tree by it's fruit, we are supposed to search out the people that are claiming to be Christians, it says to reprove, rebuke, and exhort and to say what sin is, and this is definitely sin.

Sin is sin, you make it sound like being gay is the worst thing you could do as a Christian. I'm not saying its right, I'm just saying we as Christians arent the ones to tell them that it's wrong. Once again, God is the judge. I personally don't think gay people should have a position in the church but I would still show Christs love to them. All sin is the same in the eyes of the Lord.

I would show compassion because even for this sin there is deliverance, but they would not teach, preach, sing, or hold any position in the church. This sin would have to be brought to the pastor and not everyone else. This sin is an abomination.

Why should they hide their sin? We as Christ followers are supposed to help each other with our sin and show compassion to one another. I would hope that you would show love and compassion to gay people. Everyone is equal in the eyes of the Lord.

Umm they definitely should not hold any position in the church whatsoever, and if allowed in church no one should know that they are homosexual.

@1963Austria I agree that people often want to talk about other people's sin before dealing with their own but homosexuality is out of the question and certainly should be out of the church. Leviticus 18:22 clearly states that it is an abomination for a man to be with a man and a woman to be with a woman, meaning God hates it. So if someone is committing this sin, especially a pastor, they should not be anywhere near holding a place in a church(same way I feel about adultery and fornication)

Where in teh bible does it read 'Homosexual.' If it is an abomination, then let the churches and christains clean up their abominated lives 'Adultery' for one before they judge anyone else...What about the fornicating christains, liars, bearing false witness....does the bible read 'Thous shalt not be a homosexual.' So it to me....Christains read your bible for what it days...not what you want it to say....excusing your hypocritic life especially the Bible Belt Churches..Pentecostals

We know that God is the one who creates, loves, & populates the world with diversity, including homosexuals. Being gay is a completely normal, natural part of life, an innate condition like being left-handed, black, or tall, so why do ignorant men keep trying to fight against the Lord's will and claim that being gay is a "sin"? Spreading such a lie means that God is an idiot who doesn't know what He's doing when He creates homosexuals. Personally, I trust Him over ignorant men & their bigotry.
