I (Steve Wallis) advocate a form of socialism based on proportional representation, where everybody (including middle class as well as working class people) is in control. I am rather middle class myself and think of myself as a sort of hero!

This poem touches on the most important points I think socialists should be advocating in the credit crunch - PR, democratising banks already nationalised and forcing the rich to pay tax (abolishing tax loopholes and tax havens).

I recited this musical poem at the end of the 2009 May Day demonstration in Manchester (on the 4th rather than 1st of May as is traditional due to the public holiday). As viewers will see, there weren't many there, perhaps largely due to the failure of the left to put forward relevant demands and the out-of-date nature of "Workers of the world unite"!

More of my musial poems can be found on my socialist website at www.socialiststeve.me.uk/poetry.htm. You may also like to visit my MySpace page at www.myspace.com/galaxiasteve or those of my bands Red Day (www.myspace.com./reddayband) or Galaxia (www.myspace.com/galaxiamusic).
