The fight is in response to a Chris Neil elbow to Jeremy Reich's head (shown after the fight).

Reich required stitches on his right eyelid and missed several games as a result.

Neil's elbow was down around the top of the logo on the front of Reich's jersey at the time of contact. His helmet moved because of the force of contact... no elbow here... therefore no suspension.

So, where did the injury to Reich's eye come from? It was a hit to the head, no question.

Elbow was nowhere near his head. He was admiring his pass and took a clean check, no question. The league has been pretty good with suspending headshots... why no suspension here? Look at the video. His elbow is down.

So again I ask you... Why did Reich mysteriously need stitches on his right eyelid?

He wasn't suspended, in part, because he did it to a marginal player. It was taken care of on the ice, as it should be, and I don't mind that there was no suspension. But don't tell me that Reich didn't get hit in the face when he's got the stitches to prove it.

I don't disagree that the announcers are homers, but that doesn't change the fact that Thornton clearly won here.

Clearly an elbow. Have you seen his eye? That doesn't happen from a shoulder pad. It wasn't insanely cheap or anything just an elbow minor was the right call. Thornton wins the fight and how come everytime a Bruin wins a fight the other teams fans whine about it??

Man, the Canucks needed someone like Thornton to keep the other teams honest. Eager ran at Sedin with complete impunity. The Bruins must have seen that and thought, "oh yeah, we know how to beat this team!" You gotta love Thornton!

Dale Arnold sucked donkeyass! If you've never listened to a game done by Fred Cussick, then you've never seen what a real announcer is. Just watch a couple of clips on youtube and hear him call a goal. He was better than anyone by a mile. Unfortunately after Johnny Pearson left, they threw Derek Sanderson in the booth with him, and Derek was drunk the entire time. Dave Shea tried to fill in the gaps when Derek passed out.
