In this video I continue demonstrating one way to create a character in Adobe Illustrator for animation in Flash. First I show how to use Pathfinder's Intersect option, then how to separate outlines (strokes) from fills, and finally how to move the artwork to layers and organize the layers for animation in Flash.

  • hey love the tutorials, really well explained and presented. (i think i might have already commented but i think its gone somewhere.)

I'm having one problem, I've created some custom art brushes, its just when im applying the brush stroke to the path, it does not go anywhere near the whole way across my path and i have no choice of what part of my path it goes along its just always the right side.

any help would be really appreciated.

  • @tilbury Seems like what you wrote that the art is either to the right or left of the actual path and not directly centered up and on it? If that's the case it might be the art's orientation to the path. That's found in the "create art brush" window. Maybe I'll just make a quick video and post it instead.

  • hey what is a title of the intro music?

  • Hi,

I created a tapered brush set like yours but for some reason (even with the Hue Shift turned on), when I use a color it still only gives me a tapered black brush. I'm using CS4, any idea what the problem might be?

  • @gwarbos The brushwork is attached to a path, so it's actually a stroke. Try to change the color of the stroke, rather than the fill, and let me know.

Im learning sooooooo so much! Thankyou a million :)

  • I really love the tutorials. I'm currently in the making of an animation series...well, just the story boarding first, but i'm reading and watching up as many Youtube Flash tutorials as I can. One of my main concerns is, how would I go about animating the mouth? I'm guessing, I make different symbols of the mouth moving and add it to the animation and lip sync it, but I'm still not too sure; Figured I'd ask.

  • how are you manipulating the anchor points @ 8:22?

  • This is a great video tutorial! I enjoyed watching. You present nice and clearly. Nice one! Great work explaining the brushes there. Really gives a nice effect! Peace!

  • @PeaceLoveAnimation My illustator (cs3) doesn't have a "paste and place" option :(
