@mikecorbeil Sorry Mike but these aren't yellow perch but European perch which grow considerably larger than the Yellow perch endemic to North America. European Perch are Perca fluviatilis while Yellow Perch are Perca flavescens.

Perch must be one of the easiest fish to catch. We used to catch them when we were trout fishing on the River Lee. Couldn't avoid them. They would go for anything.

My PB perch is 5lb 1oz..caught this October and featured in Angling Times.

"Man", some excellently nice yellow perch, are these! If a person goes out fishing in Quebec, Canada, and I found the same to be very true in Massachusetts, USA, then count yourself LUCKY if you catch any 12in long ; a 10in will be considered very acceptable for size for taking home for dinner. There's been much OVERFISHING and a good amount of it is from damn poaching, which is damn selfishness, taking everything of the best and leaving little to nothing for other fishermen. Due to PIGS!

@mikecorbeil My river is well protected and is catch and relase policy in operation here. Waterkeepers are always just around the corner...Big Brother rulezzz :)
