  • Is it raining inside the concert hall?

  • @hfchow007 Wait..what?

  • @Egide0 It's a joke about Uchida's choice in dress... It's similar to a rain poncho haha

  • @Kelavmeister I did get the joke...but it took me a while to get it! :D

  • I would have done anything to see this performance. Not only in my top 10 pieces but I live across the water from the SOH & my lack of knowledge confounds me alas... You have given me this awesome gift on youtube. I thank you very much. Mitsuko... Thank you too. x

Raining outside? Is there some thing nice to offer this giant accomplishment of human spirit?

Maybe it was but have you ever heard the beauty of music that the Sydney Opera House has to offer? Yours without anger. Peace.

  • I love her expressions, she really knows how to bring life to many of the old classics.... Genius :)

  • @hfchow007 Maybe, 'coz I can't hear the opening introduction.

  • I mean, my God can Beethoven write Rondos or can he write Rondos! The fortissimo sting at 0.30 just skewers you to your seat and is worth the price of admission alone. He's one of the few composers whose 3rd movements are as, or more, memorable than their 1st movements I think (see also Violin Concerto in D). And this performance is just top class. I heard Uchida Mitsuko play this exact piece at the Barbican in London in 1991 and she was just as amazing then. Fantastic!

  • @Egide0 I figured.. It was an 8 month old comment! haha I just said it in case anyone else was wondering too ;)

  • One of Beethoven's most noble inspirations performed with admirable taste and skill by one of the world's great virtuosas.

  • I'm big fan of Maestro Uchida. Just viewed/listened to the entire performance of the Third Concerto... BRILLIANT. One thing that moves me always about Uchida's performance is her strong sense of devotion to the piece that she's playing, be it Mozart or Beethoven. We could sense her absolute dedication to art, which is very pure, I never smell 'money' in her performance but only her love for the music. Mitsuko Uchida, a great living pianist of our age, I LOVE HER.

  • It looks like she's wearing a pistachio/mint-inspired mosquito net. Maybe she's afraid of getting dengue fever from a mosquito bite . Wonderful playing, though.

  • What an enormous privilege to be able to listen to this magical experience!
