I was curious myself to see the comparison side by side.
Clips were recorded with comparable settings within the Simulator.
I chose a Scenery/location that would be able to run both simulators on high settings.
Fraps had a hard time keeping up with FSX to maintain the rate of 29.97 while the recording rate never dropped below the target setting on X-Plane.

I will let the Video do the rest of the talking.
Sorry about the somewhat "crap shoot" of a landing. I was tired and just wanted the plane on the ground :)

Please subscribe. More to come in FS2004, FSX and now X-Plane 9.

  • My only concern is the 60 gigabytes of data. Holy cow!

  • @AntiCamperAssassins, why is that a concern? They make large size hard drives you know ;)

  • dammit my default Cessna 172 in FSX don't work!

  • now i think x plane 9 i best

  • @TheElectricRider I have both FSX and have flown X-Plane 10 since December. FSX does look nice for VFR at low-altitude. You have to have those visual cues and it's cool to see landmarks and cities rendered fairly accurately. However, I fly jets about 99% of the time and those buildings and landmarks are nothing at 36,000 feet. Both sims have their strengths and weaknesses...and die-hard fans. :-)

  • @flyboyandre yeah large sized drives are available but who's gonna just randomly fly into the store and throw out some money for a new hard drive in this economy?

  • I don't fly FSX because I want to look at the plane or open air in front of me. i fly because i want to see the buildings and scenery on the ground. There are tons of buildings - real city models for FXS. Does X plane have those too? I want to fly over New Orleans and SEE New Orleans with X plane. Can I do that?

  • @qantas737800 Wow. Just because YOU (or your friends) have never heard of it, it cant be better? Both are great sims. I prefer X-Plane over FSX, but having a choice is nice. I hope Microsoft Flight will continue to to be good. Competition is good, people. We don't want 1 option.

  • xplane Shows more Scenery graphics and A bit more realistic sorry FSX But Xplane Wins

  • lol xplane FTW!

  • Did u have fsx at full settings?

  • FSX is the BEST!!!
