A decade of digital advances - 31 Dec 09

The past decade has yielded technological breakthroughs that make is possible to carry music and video around in electronic devices and to recieve information almost instantaneously thrugh the itnernet.

Back in 2000, powerful computers and electronics were costly, just toys for the rich or tech crazy. But as the cost has come down a new world of consumer electronics has become possible.

But while the decade's technology advances are readily available for those living in the worlds rich countries, a challenge for the decade ahead is how to share them with the worlds poor.

Al Jazeera's Tarek Bazley reports from Doha, Qatar.
