alright i somehow have missed ''jaco pastorius'' (i listen to a fair amount of music, mind you not much jazz) as a bass player im checking him out now. i've read on wiki that some ''hall of jazz fame'' awarded him a title. he is one of 4 bassists to only get it, now i'm sure jazz lovers know more than you do. i listen to rock myself but you have to recognise that jazz & blues are very influential on rock (look at the likes of tommy bolin & rory gallagher who did rock tunes),
calm down no.1, don't start cursing like a 10 year old. i haven't slagged you so i expect the same back. 2) why don't you like him? he seems to be the ''led zep'' of jazz in terms of influence & talent. 3) im guessing you like artists more along the lines of Tommy Bolin who fused jazz elements into rock? if so thats fair enough but don't come onto a page & start saying that this guy sucks or anything. just because you don't like his style doesn't mean he isn't talented.
this guy may be talented..but i juts dont understand the whole ordeal with how great he is...ive seen his other videos and they dont impress me...maybe you should send me a video to prove me otherwise...maybe something that WILL wow me..not like you have anything to prove to me but i just wanna be proved wrong
I don't know if you have enought time to hear his albums, I recomend to you his solo album, called "jaco pastorius" released on 1976, and the weater report's 8:30, specially the song called "teen town" and "badia/boogie woogie waltz medley". I don't want to force you to like it this guy, hear this albums, if you have time, and judge it. Greets.
it doesn't have to impress you, i could say SRV is deadly cos of all the notes he belts out etc, but sometimes a simpler approach is better. this is something people criticise about Vic Wooten at times, that he needs to calm his playing down because the notes start to get murky. i'm sure if you understood the in depths on bass/music that this would wow you, he seems to have alot of control on the tone he wants to get & from what i can pick out he's being very technical with harmonics i THINK
look at hendrix hendrix was talented but in no way was he ''the king of guitar'' (i dont believe such a title can be given out, that to judge one guitarist against another at such a high level is unfair)
there were guys who played faster, slower, more soulfully, clearer, energetically than hendrix. 1 sign of a good artist is generally if people in other genres like him/her. this guy (jaco) seems to be loved all round by big bassists, claypool,Flea,Zender
