...errr, agree with Dogboy73 i mean ;)

...have to agree with drum4life42 about opting for the prophet 8 if you were considering buying both. sonic lab says the same v=8DjnBiTJ1ds at the end of that vid. mopho is a good price, but tetra is insanely good price. i'd go for the tetra and put the rest of the money towards something with a different synthesis engine, possibly a multi-timbral/polyphonic virtual analog synth to expand your sonic possibilities, or just a cheap controller which is always handy to have.

@Dogboy73 DCO, VCO is a purely pointless argument and for those with pure aethetic and feel restrictions they may aswell wrap cerial boxes up with tin foil, a few bells & whistles and pretend they have a big boy Rack ha! This little diamond shall forever be small, semi virtual and mighty.
Im in no way disregarding modular synthesis but it always boils down to the mind behind the gear not the petty ignorant views concerning "imperfections" as that tends to be a great quality for synthesizers .

@qwerfderf Agreed. Some complain about it's use of DCO oscillators over VCO ones. Well, they may have a point but for me this thing has really hit the nail on the head - a 4 voice desktop analogue synth with great features that is very affordable for what it can do. Sold to me ;-) I think this thing ticks all the right boxes really. Great little box.
Nice vids! Can all the parrameters be controlled with the Mopho keyboard? Im considering purchasing this little beast and if the answer to my question is a yes then I will probably end up getting both the Tetra 4 and the Mopho. :) You cant beat the price for the sound quality of this synth. I can see them releasing a keyboard version soon, maybe in a year or two. But Im sure the price will be between $1600-$2200

@drum4life42 I believe they can. There are some vids on YouTube demonstrating the Mopho keyboard with the TETR4. But if I was buying from scratch I'd be looking at the Prophet 08 second hand I reckon. It's more or less the same sound engine & obviously you get 8 voices to play with.

what do people think about using this synth for pretty drone, such as oneohtrix point never? :)

@cazmo222 I'm a massive fan of Oneohtrix Point Never myself. I've played the Returnal ablum to death!! Anyway, I think the TETR4 would be very good for this sort of stuff. He uses a lot of looped sequences & arpegios at different rates. The TETR4's 4 onboard sequencers would be very cool for this sort of thing. Put the output through a nice delay & chorus effect & you're on your way ;-)

@cazmo222 great! also, how many notes of polyphony does this lovely actually have?
cazmo222 10 months ago
@cazmo222 4-note polyphony (hence the name). The 4 voices can be combined in a variety of ways for all kinds of layering & performance possibilities. You can also poly-chain this with a Mopho for 5 voices, another TETR4 for 8 or a Prophet 08 for 12! Personally I'm perfectly happy with 4. Especially with todays computer recording possibilities.
