    we as a society are stuck in this hamster wheel. creating more new products that eventually break down and then we have to manufacture more of them. we could use this time and resources for inventing new things and developing technologies

    but now.. we're stuck making nylon stockings, and lightbulbs and other crap that's made to fail in near future

    you cant buy a bulb in Europe now for less then 5 dolars.

    I refuse, i buy at chinese stores for 50 cents... this is shit, they are killing us.

    And food prices are high high high.

    House of 5, I spend 150 160 dolars per week in groceries.

    As the video says, the problem is in the psychology of the consumer. It's a tyranny most hold themselves in. It's quite easy to just buy long lasting stuff if that's what you want. I believe it stems from politics that are constantly turning the levers of power to increase spending to "save" the economy (they don't know what economy means) Long lasting stuff is sometimes a waste is also important to remember.
