@chronikuss if you have this surgery, that bitch aint going anywhere bro. my repaired shoulder is better than my uninjured one. i had 10+ complete dislocations prior to surgery.

@rickkeil had mine done in 06'. my repaired shoulder is better than the uninjured one. like you said though, the recovery is a mofo. i've had a knee fixed as well and the shoulder was 10x worse. however, well worth it isn't the word for it. I hear that open bankart has become just about outdated now a few years later and they can get as good of results with a scope with some type of new technique.

costs a lot if you aren't covered by insurance, and take it easy for several months while healing, but is so worth not having more dislocations! it's probably best to ease gently into heavy sports and activity; and every person, every injury is unique. once you're able to move again, it may hurt and feel stiff, but moving around and using it--carefully to begin with--lubricates the joint and gets it moving better. good luck to everyone, such a painful injury.

It takes 12 to 18 months to fully recover from this surgery (bankart)....I underwent it twice, failed first time because I was cleared to lift and get back to any sport activity 6 months post-op... I read it takes up to 18 months!

can someone please tell me how this surgery costs? I have no insurance and I think I need to have this surgery done on both of my shoulders. They pop out sooo easy, sometimes when I'm sleeping.
I am having bankart surgery, but my doc wants to do an ortho on the 18 of this month just "to see what he's getting into" then, he wants to do a full open bankart prob two weeks after that.
Anyone know if that is normal? To do a preliminary ortho? Suppossedly, he one of the top should guys in my area. Just not sure why I need 2 surgeries.

@mrprodzign : That didn't happen to me. I have been told though that the surgery is improved and easier now... Good luck!

GuiGo89 - 3 years now and I am still amazed at how good it feels and how much confidence I have in the arms. I am a happy camper. Take it easy during rehab, do you rehab as instructed and you will be fine.

u have a plane shoulder sockets? because i have, and i'm affraid, that it will luxate also after the repair. I'd like to know your experiencies and how strong is it. tx a lot

Okay, so I am now 1 year out ont he right shoulder and 1.5 years out on the left. No luxations, no problems. For a while on the right I was getting the tingles like it was asleep if I rolled on it wrong in bed, but that has gone away with excersize and time. I am very pleased and very confident in the repairs. BTW - because of my job I do quite a bit of lifting, no problems so far.

Do you have full range of motion after the first surgery? Most of mine is there.I have to stretch to get externel rotation.

Yes, I am back to full and complete motion without the worry of a dislocation. It is great. I couldn't be happier with the results.
