Basstoneslap.tv (The Real Basstoneslap) playing the City Arts Chimes at Light Night 2011. This piece was written by Emma Williams (vibraphone) and Michael Davis (drums) and commmisioned by City Arts as part of the Nottingham Light Night Celebrations 2011. The Chimes can be booked as a performace - as shown here, or as a participatory event for festivals. Contact alison@city-arts.org.uk for chimes bookings and further info.
A note about the Chimes as a participatory event..... We normally supply 4 or more musicians - one drum kit player and 3 facilitators for working with the public. The pentatonic (5 note) tuning eliminates any 'wrong' notes thus taking out the need for any musical knowledge whatsoever and the drum kit player keeps the whole thing in time. The result of this is that the chimes can run continously all day with a performance at night. The chimes are equally accesible to children and adults alike, making it the perfect centre piece for family areas at festivals.
Wonderful visuals! The music is pleasing. Looks like an enjoyable event.
