Even if you applied the serial number, it still need to read the disc.
This is the reason he need to use the DVD for the video.

  • Chirs, try the secuROM while you're offline, its worst than DRM.

  • @x4dow exactly, it just puts you off buying something. Especially with games that run on steam! I'd rather pirate the fuckin' thing than to deal with that piece of shit!

  • thats why i rather get piracy stuff, dont need to waste time with discs and serials.

  • EA=FFF

  • EA = GREED

  • thats what you get for paying for software

  • DRM is just making pirates more competitive between them, For example : Razor 1911 and Skidrow are the 2 that I think are the best.

  • companies are taking DRM too far

  • angleisthebest, you're a bit off. The point this guy is making is that if the game is installed on his hard drive, and he supplied it with the serial number, there is no reason to constantly switch out discs. What if you lose it, or its damaged? You can't play the game, even though you paid money for it.

Also, game consoles require the discs because, um, the game is on the disc - most consoles don't have hard drives, nitwit. Finally, Punkbuster is NOT DRM, its to prevent cheating in online game

  • Chris, you're a fail. You're complaining about having the DVD in the drive to load the game? Having the DVD in the drive is the only basic copy protection scheme that doesn't fuck with the end user's computer or rely on some bullshit DRM software to give it a green light, which is why even games consoles have had this for decades. To call the requirement of having the disc in the drive 'DRM' let alone a fail, is retarded. Try playing a game using SecuROM, TAGES or Punkbuster.
