WORLD OF HURT, the Internet's #1 Blaxploitation Webcomic, announces the release of its theme song "The Black Fist."

The song brings the tone and era of the comic strip alive with a brooding, gritty, raw instrumental that sounds like impending violence from the first note.

"The Black Fist" was written and performed by C.E. Garcia, a member of the Black Dynamite Sound Orchestra and musician on the original score for the Black Dynamite movie. Garcia brings a strong, deep knowledge of funk and soul to WORLD OF HURT.

Garcia composed the song after discovering the WORLD OF HURT webcomic, which pays homage to the 1970s Blaxploitation genre. It is written and drawn by award-winning artist Jay Potts.

Garcia found immediate inspiration in the strip and its lead character, Isaiah "Pastor" Hurt.

"I can't lie to you, I discovered 'WORLD OF HURT' pretty late in the game, so I actually had the luxury of reading the strip as a comic reader would a printed book," Garcia said. "Upon reading the first five panels where Pastor is chasing that junkie through the city streets, and he throws him to the ground after trying to scale that chained-link fence, I thought to myself, 'Damn, what a terrific opening.' And every terrific opening deserves a terrific soundtrack."

Garcia shot an e-mail to Potts, describing his idea for a song. Pretty soon, the two had reached an agreement to feature "The Black Fist" on the WORLD OF HURT Web site and to make it available on iTunes.

"I used to say that the greatest compliment one artist can give another is to say, 'Your work made me want to pick up my pencil, brush, guitar, whatever my chosen means of expression is, and create. Something. Anything,'" Potts said. "Chris made me rethink that. The greatest compliment one artist can give another is to say, 'I want to create something based on your work, especially when it's an artist of the caliber of Chris Garcia.'"

"The Black Fist" will be available on iTunes on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010.
